Still missing what to write for your blog?

I know you might be sitting on your computer, squeezing your mind to get even a word to start writing a post for your blog but, it seems like your mind is completely locked.

If that’s the case, i can tell you we all experience this at times, however, the good news is that you can bypass all of this to another state of mind where you can enjoy a continous flow of ideas and words, plenty enough to write more than just one story or article for your blog.

Here are five steps to go on with before you can make a good choice for your post.

1- Setting the right time and surroundings to get started

So, mind locked and running out of ideas?

Let me get hold of just few things that can actually disrupt your ability to think, create and of course to write a good post.

You will find it more difficult to succeed in writing something really good for your post when you just feel exhausted, consumed by some other problem or thought. So first of all, get a good rest! Free up your mind, it’s tougher to be at your best while doing two different things at the same time.

Don’t forget to choose a quiet place for your surroundings to help you get started without interruption. Remember that what you aim for is reaching brilliant ideas, so get yourself ready for that.

And what about your state of mind? it’s so crucial to pay attention to your inner thoughts, what you think about yourself and how much success or failure are you expecting. Try to avoid any negative self talking like: it seems to be a hard job .. i have nothing to write about … i can’t think of the right subject or words for my article.

Do yourself a favor and be confident that whatever you write with passion will be good enough for your readers because you just put your best into it, I am going to tell you later on in other post how to write good articles that your readers will enjoy, just let’s focus here on reaching the right subject to write about.

Are you at ease now with your surroundings both externally and internally?!

Let’s move on.

2- What’s your blog about?

You must have decided in the very beginning what your blog is going to be about , I didn’t include here how to choose a blog idea, however, for all readers who didn’t start blogging and would like to know how to choose an idea for their blog let me know if you are interested in a future article on that.

Back on track, identify what’s your blog about, is it about bird watching, jogging, reading? whatever the purpose of your blog is, we are going to follow the same procedures to generate a good idea and topic to write about.

Let’s say your blog is all about bird watching.

Now, we need to make a list of keywords related to our niche (bird watching in this example) that will give us many choices and ideas to choose for our post.

3- How to create a list of related keywords?

Thanks for Google free keyword tool, it will provide you with plenty of related keywords to whatever word you choose, this tool has many other purposes as well, however this is beyond our current topic.

Go to the Google free keyword tool, type “bird Watching” then press Get keyword ideas, and here you are, plenty of related keywords that will trigger your mind , let’s see some of our results:

- Binoculars for bird watching.
- Bird watching guide
- Bird watching books
- Bird watching supplies
- Bird watching pictures
- Feeding birds
- Birds species

4- Keywords splitting

You might be feeling some inspiration now having all those keywords related to the main topic of your blog, what about writing them down for further use? You can also edit the list at anytime by adding more related keywords or removing some others.

I mean by keyword splitting picking any related keyword from our result and splitting it into narrower related keywords, each of which can be used as a main subject for your post.

You can skip the keyword splitting step and just pick any of the related keywords that you got in your result, for example, you can write a post directly about bird watching supplies, or you can do some brainstorming or search and split the keyword into narrower related keywords like:

- Bird Bath heaters
- Binoculars
- Bird bath drippers
- Seed scoops

The choice is yours here, but i would prefer keyword splitting that will provide you with more ideas to write about instead of just making a general post covering the whole subject.

Targeting a specific narrow scope topic in your post makes it stronger and more useful to readers, imagine the difference between writing a post about all of the bird watching supplies, or just writing about seed scoops, no doubt that the later would be more effective in many ways:

a- Providing more information targeting specific keywords, which is definitely a good thing for SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
b- Saving you the rest of related keywords to talk about in later posts.

So, how can you make your final choice?

5- If you know enough about it, you can start there

Having all those related keywords and sub related keywords, you must be feeling a little bit confused or unable to make your final choice, no need to worry since all of those keywords can serve as different subjects for your blog posts.

You just need to pick one of them to write about for now, don’t rush into it randomly, spend an enough time to think about which of your keywords can be your right choice.

What do you feel passionate about? For any of the related keywords, do you have enough useful information and resources to provide your readers with? If this is the case, pick your chosen keyword, write down a good title for your post and take a very short rest before you start the ride.

We often overlook what a big help Google is when it comes to keywords. Keyword phrases, alone, can balloon page rank. If you want to soak up a lot of odd-ball categories, this is the way to go.

Haven’t thought much about this lately. Thanks for waking me up.

I like the first point the best. Without rest it’s tough be feel creative.

Ironically I also get great ideas when I’m doing mundane things like laundry or dishes. I keep a pen and paper handy to jot them down.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my Twitter post. I appreciate your input.
